We have been working with the London Ambulance Service to explore the role of emergency services in #MatExp. This led to an exciting tour of the Control Centre in Waterloo, talking to lots of people and hearing their experiences. Florence Wilcock, consultant obstetrician and co-founder of #MatExp, (a.k.a #FabObs Flo) even went’out on the road’ for a day to be ‘in the shoes’ of a paramedic.

We ran the first #EmMVP workshop on 11 May – a busy day, with Gill Phillips, creator of Whose Shoes? launching #IrishMatExp in Galway on the same day! Flo and midwife colleague Sam Frewin joined the London Ambulance team to help facilitate their workshop bringing women and families who have used the service together with a wide range of healthcare professionals and other interested parties – which is the nature of Whose Shoes?! Lively discussions led to some amazing and very diverse pledges, including setting up the first emergency services- specific ‘Maternity Voices Partnership’, where women from across London will be able to get involved in coproduction work to help improve the London service from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’. 🙂
Flo wrote this great Steller story. Watch this space – further stories and comments will appear soon!
